Why retest at three months if I was cured?

Test of cure was negative. Told to come back at three months anyway. What is that looking for?

NoteMember experience, not medical advice. Symptoms overlap between infections and only a test can tell them apart.

Reinfection, not treatment failure. Those are two different questions and the two tests answer one each.

The rate of testing positive again within a few months is high enough that it is worth a routine appointment, usually because a partner was untreated or a new partner came along.

It is not a comment on your behaviour. It is a population level observation that got turned into a default recommendation, which is why everybody gets told the same thing.

Do go. It is the cheapest possible way to catch the thing that actually causes the long term problems, which is repeat infection rather than one episode.
