It is also the reason clinics tell pregnant patients specifically to make contact if it happens, because the situation is managed differently. Worth knowing if that applies to anyone reading.

Please do call. I was in almost exactly this position and the tone of the appointment changed completely once they knew it was a first episode rather than a recurrence, because the two carry very different risks to the baby.

They were calm and had clearly done it many times.

Also be ready for them to need a few days. The first reaction is often just surprise, and the considered response comes later. Mine came back the next evening having read everything and asked good questions.

I stopped during my treatment run for unrelated reasons and cannot tell you whether it helped. It did make the appointments feel less like something being done to me.

The framing that helped me: the test found something that is common, and the system responded by watching more closely. That is the process working, not the process failing.
