    This happened to us and it was exactly that. He was given treatment, felt fine after two days, and we didn’t wait as long as we’d been told. Round two, both treated properly, clear ever since.

    Mine turned out to be a second infection alongside it that the first round didn’t cover. Cleared once that was treated too. Please do go back rather than waiting.

    Same path, four months. The thing that finally worked was saying plainly that repeated thrush treatment hadn’t changed anything and asking what else it could be. That sentence got a different test ordered.

    What that letter describes is the screening programme doing precisely what it exists to do: finding changes early, long before they’d become a problem, so they can be looked at properly.

    Colposcopy is a closer look with a magnifier. Some people have a small sample taken. It’s uncomfortable rather than painful for most, and it’s an appointment, not a verdict.

    Coming back to close the loop because these threads always seem to end without an update. It was chlamydia. Treated, partners told, retest booked. Thank you both, genuinely. The waiting was worse than the result.
